Portfolio: rank your AI initiatives by readiness impact

KlaritiQ Team·October 2026·5 min read

Portfolio answers one question: which of our open initiatives should we do first? It lists your initiatives in ranked order, weighing what each one adds to your readiness score against its team size and budget and the open risks it carries.

What does Portfolio rank?

Every initiative that is not Completed, not Cancelled and not deleted. The catch-all "General Actions" bucket is left out because it is not real trackable work. Any member of the organization can open the page. It is read-only: to change a team size, budget or owner you open the initiative itself.

How is the Score worked out?

The Score is fixed arithmetic, not a judgement, and it gives everyone the same default order.

  1. Impact. The ARI column is the readiness points the initiative is expected to add when it completes. It is set by the scoring engine from the evidence linked to the initiative, and you cannot type it in. An initiative with no impact figure yet shows 0.
  2. Effort. Team size and budget are each compared with the 90th-percentile value in your own organization, and averaged when both exist. The score is impact divided by one plus that effort.
  3. Risk. The score is then divided by one plus the weight of the worst open risk on the initiative: critical 0.5, high 0.3, medium 0.15, low 0.05.

An initiative with neither team size nor budget is not penalised: its score is just its impact. It gets a warning icon so you know why it may rank high, and the fix is to add the missing figures on the initiative page. Team and Budget (in rupees) come from the initiative.

What are the four ranking views?

Under the List and Matrix switch, four buttons re-sort the same data. They do not change any numbers, and the Score column stays the Balanced score.

ViewOrder
BalancedThe Score above
Speed to MarketSmallest team first, falling back to budget, unknown last
Risk ReductionCritical risks first, then the most open risks
ROI / Cost ReductionMost impact per rupee of budget, no budget last

What is the Impact vs Effort matrix?

Choose Matrix to plot each initiative as a dot. Height is readiness impact. Distance across is effort, using team size, or budget scaled to a comparable size when there is no team size. The dividing lines are the middle (median) values of your own plotted items, so the quadrants make sense whether you have four initiatives or forty:

  • Quick Wins: high impact, low effort.
  • Strategic Bets: high impact, high effort.
  • Low Priority: low impact, low effort.
  • Money Pits: low impact, high effort.

The Show items under slider hides items above a budget, but never hides one that has no budget. Items with no team size and no budget cannot be plotted and are listed below the chart as not yet plottable.

How do you preview a what-if?

Tick the box beside any initiative, or click its dot in the matrix. A card appears: What if you did these N things? It shows your current readiness, an arrow, and the projected figure with the gain. Current readiness is the average of each person's latest assessment score, and the projection adds the ticked impacts, capped at 100. Nothing is saved. It needs at least one scored assessment.

Common questions

Why is an initiative with little detail ranked high? Look for the warning icon. Missing cost data means no effort penalty, so a good impact can rank high until team size and budget are added.

Can I change the ARI figure? No. Link evidence to the initiative and the scoring engine works it out. See the AI Readiness Index.

Why are some owners shown as Unassigned? Either the initiative has no owner, or the member names could not load, in which case a notice says so.

What if Portfolio cannot load? You see Couldn't load the portfolio and a Retry button, never an empty list. A genuinely empty list says Nothing to rank yet.

For the people side of the same initiatives, open Capacity. To manage one initiative, see Managing initiatives.
